Join us for a guided walk to the summit of West Lomond, the highest point in Fife. The route follows good tracks through open moorland and gently rising ground, part of a landscape of moorland, lochs and farmland within the Lomond Hills Regional Park.
We’ll chat about the plants and wildlife that thrive on these upland slopes along the way.
On a clear day, you’ll be rewarded with sweeping views over Loch Leven, the Ochils, and even the distant Highlands on the summit. The sense of space is remarkable, with rolling moorland, farmland and the chain of reservoirs – Holl, Ballo and Harperleas – visible below.
This is a moderately challenging walk with some steep sections. But it’s well worth the climb for its views, wildlife interest and the chance to experience one of Fife’s most distinctive landscapes.
The walk is on tracks and paths and has a couple of steeper sections. Participants should be fit enough to walk on rough terrain for 3 hours.
There are toilets and parking at Craigmead Car Park (all day parking £2).
This event is free but should you wish to, and are able to do so, a donation is welcome to go towards Fife Coast and Countryside Trust’s conservation and maintenance work. We suggest £10 for a family group of four, or £5 per person.
