Birnie and Gaddon Lochs
Birnie and Gaddon Lochs are restored sand and gravel workings. Open grassland and native plantation woodland surrounds the two lochs.
The lochs provide an area for low impact recreational use including walking, bird watching and picnics.
This is a valuable resource for conservation and education.

Habitat Summary
Predominantly open water and Semi-improved neutral grassland. Smaller areas of important swamp, unimproved neutral grassland. dense scrub and tall ruderal herb are also present
Species Summary
Winter wildfowl, especially Wigeon and Goosander. Breeding Redshank, Lapwing and Oystercatcher, Maiden Pink.
Mammals include Otter, Bank Vole, Pipistrelle Bat and Red Squirrel
