Harran Hill Wood
Harran Hill Wood is a 27 hectare mature broadleaved woodland. It is a listed county wildlife site, occupying a prominent hillside location on the fringe of Benarty Hill and is noted for its great variety of plants, bryophytes and ferns. The Rangers manage Harran Hill for the benefit of these plants and as a place for people to enjoy quiet recreation.
Working in the woods, whether as part of an organised group, an educational group or as a volunteer provides a lot of enjoyment for many people. There are opportunities for working socially, with both mental and physical health benefits. So the Rangers involve as many local people in the work they do.
