Fife Nature Records Centre

So that we might better understand, enjoy and conserve Fife’s natural heritage, there is a need to gather and make available high quality information about species, sites, and habitats. Fife Nature Record Centre is Fife’s Local Record Centre. Our aim is to provide a quality biological information service for Fife.

A Local Record Centre is the reference point for biological information in a defined area. There are numerous individuals, groups, and organisation that gather a wide variety of biological information. These may range from individuals gathering information on a single species, to large government organisations gathering information in relation to numerous sites and habitats. A Local Record Centre provides the means for gathering all this information together. Therefore, for those seeking biological information, it can act as a ‘one stop shop’.

Fife Nature Records Centre can provide you, your organisation, or your local community with information to help you enhance and safeguard Fife’s natural heritage. If you would like to request information please follow the guidelines outlined in the attached publication 'Fife Nature Information Request Factsheet'. Information can then be requested using the form attached to this page. This process should take no more than 10 minutes. An example of the type of information we provide is also attached to this page.

For more about us and what we can offer please read below and browse the publications and links that are attached to this page.

At present Fife Nature Records Centre provides biological information FREE to all customers including interested members of the public. We aim to get information to all our users within 20 working days.
