Welcome to the Fife Coast and Countryside Trust website.
I have been a Director of Fife Coast and Countryside Trust for over 4 years. However, I am honoured to have recently been made Chairman and I am looking forward to supporting Amanda, the Trust Manager and her team in the forthcoming months.
As a farmer and landowner, I have spent all of my life in Fife and I am very proud of our wonderful countryside, rich in biodiversity. Fife’s countryside also makes an important contribution to the quality of life of local communities and is a key component of the regions tourism industry. The Trust is committed, by working in partnership with local communities and other organisations to making Fife’s countryside an attractive and exciting place to visit.
The past 18 months has seen a period of huge growth for the Trust with the number of staff increasing from 4 to 39. The team now includes the Fife Ranger Service, the Countryside Maintenance Team as well as Project and Business Support teams.
The Trust also moved into its new Headquarters in Dysart towards the end of 2006. The award winning 17th Century Harbourmaster’s House also contains Fife’s first Coastal Centre which has seen over 15,000 visitors in its first year of opening.
I hope this site will provide you with insight into the work of the Trust. I feel privileged to live in Fife and I am delighted that through the work of the Trust we can make a difference to this special countryside.
