COUNTRYSIDE SERVICES TEAM LEADER 

36 HRS/WEEK
Salary £29,021 -£32,193

Fife Coast and Countryside Trust is a dynamic environmental charity which delivers a range of Countryside services on behalf of Fife Council. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Team Leader to manage the services provided by our team of 12 Countryside rangers, Bio-diversity and Red Squirrel Officers.

Our aim is to manage the, conserve and enhance the countryside and biodiversity of Fife. The Trust is responsible for the management and maintenance of over 70 countryside sites in Fife including the Fife Coastal Path, the Lomond Hills Regional Park and 5 local Nature Reserves.

The post will be based at The Pitcairn Centre, Glenrothes but will require the individual to travel between the Trust’s other bases throughout Fife therefore a driving licence is essential. A vehicle will be provided for this purpose. The main duty will be the day to day management of the Countryside Services Team to ensure the services being provided meet the Trust’s obligations under its Service agreement with the Council.

Qualifications and Background

The successful candidate must have an appropriate academic qualification BSc or equivalent minimum in a relevant field. You should also be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of the complex and diverse nature of the work undertaken by a Ranger through both the combination of formal qualifications and previous experience. Previous management experience in a similar role is also important. A sound knowledge of and enthusiasm for the countryside is essential. Working knowledge of the legislation relative to the countryside, including bio-diversity, the Scottish Outdoor Access Code and the Land Reform Act. Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Hours may include evening working, early mornings and weekends.
A current first aid certificate is desirable.
