Online Recording Form

To submit a single record to FNRC simply fill in the form below then click send. Your record will be added to the FNRC database after the necessary checks have been completed.

The fields marked with an asterisk (*) must be completed to produce an accurate and useful record. Some fields are populated by drop-down lists and the form may predict your entry as you type. However, you can include entries which don't appear on the drop-down lists.

Latin or common name can be added here. Please search the predefined list thoroughly as the name we have for a species may not exactly match your own desired spelling of the name. Some new or reclassified species etc may not appear in our list. If this is the case then please type in the full name yourself.
How many did you see? (Abundance):

The number of individuals seen. This can be a range or exact figure e.g.1, 100-200.
Where did you see it? (Location):*

Please enter the most accurate location name possible. Ideally this should be based an Ordinance Survey name. If you can enter a 6 figure grid reference (e.g. NT123456) you don't have to fill in a location name. In the absence of a grid reference this should be the most accurate known location that contains the record. If your location does not appear on the drop down list please type in the full name yourself.
Where did you see it? (Grid Reference):*
When entering a grid reference please ensure that you enter an even number of digits and the letter 'O' is used and not the number '0' if your grid reference starts 'NO'. Please also ensure there is no space between letters and numbers. Please double-check this grid reference before sending the record. Please enter the most accurate grid reference you have available. Please only use 2, 4, 6, or 8 figure grid references. Drag the red marker to where you want a grid reference. (Only valid in UK OS region) The grid refs will appear on the right, and corresponding boxes on the map. Press the Satellite button to turn on the aerial photos, or Hybrid for both maps and aerials. Use the + and - buttons to zoom in and out, and the arrows to pan. Please do not record using 2km or 10km grid refs. These are for information only. Any other detail that may be of value. In particular this can include additional detail of the location if you don't have a grid reference e.g. In Garden. You can also describe any activity observed e.g. feeding on pine. You can also add detail of sex and/or maturity e.g. male, juvenile etc.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
•  Fife Nature Records Centre reserves the right to release personal data in those circumstances whereby it will be used to contact an individual in order to verify or validate records. FNRC may also release personal data for those individuals that have expressed an interest in supporting the wider recording community.

•  All information sent to Fife Nature Records Centre will be used for conservation purposes at the discretion of the Information Officer. This will include making the data publicly available through online catalogues including the National Biodiversity Network Gateway http://data.nbn.org.uk/.
